This action challenges the constitutionality of Sonoma Countyโ€™s use of unmanned aerial vehicles โ€” drones โ€” to target and record details about residents, their homes, and the areas surrounding them, all without a warrant. Since 2019, the Code Enforcement Section (โ€œCESโ€) of Sonoma Countyโ€™s Permit Sonoma agency (โ€œPermit Sonomaโ€) has deployed drones more than 700 times to conduct civil code enforcement, during which inspectors have captured at least 5,600 images.
