Rupprecht Law works closely with a few other certified aviation professionals in helping achieve clients’ goals. This is to maintain the focus on legal services so as to provide clients the best aviation law services possible. The professionals below all have at a minimum of a FAA commercial pilot certificate with decades of experience in aviation.
Gus Calderon is an FAA-licensed Commercial Pilot with over 20 years of aviation experience. He has a Multi-engine and Instrument Rating and has over 3,000 flight hours in high-performance aircraft. Gus developed and operated an FAA-certified Part 135 air charter company based in Carlsbad, CA.
In 2006, Gus began installing autopilots and cameras in fixed-wing unmanned aircraft. In 2010 he started custom building multi-rotor platforms for aerial photography and cinematography. As an early-adopter of civilian unmanned aircraft, he has conducted thousands of sUAS flight operations and has over a decade of field experience.
Because of his experience in commercial aviation and knowledge of multi-rotor systems, Gus was selected as a member of Lady Gaga’s design and development team for her “Flying Dress” which was named the Volantis. On November 10, 2013, Gus successfully flew Lady Gaga on the Volantis at the ArtPop album release in Brooklyn, New York.
When the FAA began granting exemptions on September 25th, 2014, Gus utilized his experience in commercial aviation, sUAS, and technical writing to draft operating manuals for companies seeking to operate their sUAS commercially. Using his experience as an air charter operator, he has written operating, training, and maintenance manuals for numerous companies in many sectors of the industry. Gus’s operating manuals have set the standard for commercial sUAS operations and demonstrate how aeronautical knowledge can improve their safe operation.
Maha Calderon, technical consultant at AirSpace Consulting, is currently researching methods of enhancing radio communication capability and control in drone operations. Maha is an FAA Certified Flight Instructor and HAM Radio Technician.
Maha received her BA degree in journalism from Texas State University. Her first assignment at Harte Hanks News Service in Austin, Texas, included covering the Texas State Legislature. She moved to California and worked at the Gemological Institute of America’s public information office. Maha received her certified flight instructor license in 2004. Maha recently received her HAM Radio Technician certification.
Scott Strimple is a leading educator and evangelist for small unmanned aircraft operations. He is a Captain and FAA check pilot for United Airlines with 25000 flight hours. Scott also is a two time Emmy award winning cinematographer with more than 40 years operating sUA combined with extensive subject matter expertise in flight training provide Scott with an industry leading perspective to the world of unmanned flight. His leadership and experience with unmanned aviation have been recognized by his appointment to the Governor of Virginia’s Unmanned Systems Commission. He is an Executive Committee member and task group lead with the ASTM working closely with the FAA AFS80 and UAIO developing standards for the unmanned aviation industry. Scott is frequently seen presenting at industry events, contributing written work and being quoted by numerous media outlets. He is a senior flight instructor with the Unmanned Vehicle University, a member of the SOAC and facilitates aerial cinema training across the country under his own brand CinemAerial Visuals.
